This was ZOK’s second ONS, and ZOK was pleased to have a booth with their Norwegian stockholding distributor, GTC AS.
This was the first opportunity for ZOK to show off their new brand image for the highly accredited ZOK Gold Standard products. This banner raised a lot of interest, because it shows the famous Troll A platform – the tallest structure ever moved by mankind! The platform stands on the sea floor a massive 303 metres (994 feet) below the surface of the sea and each of the concrete cylindrical legs has an elevator that takes over nine minutes to travel from the platform above the waves to the sea floor. The walls of Troll A's legs are over one metre thick made of steel reinforced concrete.
Pål Eirik Gausel told the ZOK crew about his trip to the sea bed, down a lift shaft on one of the legs of the platform. At the base there is a huge space where, in 2006, the 10th anniversary of Statoil's operatorship of Troll gas production was celebrated with a concert by Katie Melua held at the base of the Troll A platform. As well as entertaining the workers on the rig, the concert set a new world record for the deepest underwater concert!
On a more serious note, this show is one of the world’s leading oil industry meeting places, and is a bi annual event which incorporates a high profile conference. This year the conference theme was ‘Energy for More People’ and ZOK is ideally placed to support this aim by giving operators increased efficiency and therefore increased output.
Another subject which was discussed widely was the current situation in the Gulf of Mexico. Keith Cartwright (ZOK CEO) predicts that US waters will soon be subject to similar environmental constraints and regulations to those in operation in the North Sea. ZOK has recently developed Gold Standard products specifically to meet the stringent environmental requirements relating to the North Sea. ZOK is therefore in pole position to support US offshore operators with Gold Standard cleaning solutions, when this becomes necessary.
